It all began with two hardworking brothers, Jason and Greg, hailing from the rural community of Pungo in Virginia Beach. Both brothers spent long days and nights working at the Ford plant in Norfolk, where they honed their skills, developed a strong work ethic, and cultivated a dream of entrepreneurship. When the Ford plant relocated, leaving behind empty factories and uncertain futures, the Pungo brothers saw an opportunity to pivot and carve out a new path for themselves.

Their journey into the waste management industry began modestly, with the launch of a dump trailer business that quickly evolved into a successful roll-off dumpster operation, now known as Back Bay Boxes. This venture was a stepping stone that led them into the realms of demolition and land clearing, allowing them to diversify their services and expand their business footprint. However, it wasn’t long before a new opportunity presented itself, one that would change the course of their business forever.

In the midst of their growing success, Jason and Greg were presented with the chance to acquire a portable toilet business known as Royal Flush. Recognizing the potential to build something truly special, the brothers made the bold decision to sell off their demolition and land clearing equipment to focus entirely on the portable sanitation and roll-off dumpster services. It was a move that would define their legacy in the sanitation industry for the next 25 years.

As the business grew, Jason took the helm of the portable toilet division, managing every detail to ensure Royal Flush became a trusted name in sanitation solutions. His meticulous attention to cleanliness, customer service, and operational efficiency transformed Royal Flush into a leader in the industry. Meanwhile, Greg continued to oversee the roll-off dumpster side of the business, expanding Back Bay Boxes and ensuring it provided top-tier waste management solutions. Together, the Pungo brothers built a business that surpassed their wildest expectations, earning a reputation for reliability, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Not far from their base in Virginia, another pair of brothers was making their mark in the sanitation industry. Bryan and Jameson, the owners and operators of Atlantic OBX Inc. in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, had taken over their grandfather’s sanitation company and were steadily growing it into a regional powerhouse. As their business expanded, Bryan and Jameson saw an opportunity to join forces with the Pungo brothers, whose success with Royal Flush and Back Bay Boxes had not gone unnoticed.

After a year of negotiations, many meetings, and countless meals at 3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Chesapeake, the two families reached an agreement that would see Bryan and Jameson take over Royal Flush and Back Bay Boxes. On March 1st, 2024, the OBX brothers officially acquired the businesses, bringing new energy and a commitment to honoring the legacy Jason and Greg had built. Greg remains on board as a Senior Operations Manager, bringing his decades of experience to the new team, while Jason continues to contribute as a consultant, focusing on his passion for real estate.
